the Impact of Regulatory Sanctions on Banks for non-compliance with Foreign Exchange Guidelines: a case Study of 25 Banks
(Research Dept. - Central Bank of Nigeria, 2004-10) Osaka, G. C.; Oputa, Newman C.; Tule, M K.; et. al
As part of the efforts to sanitize the foreign exchange market and instill market discipline, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),among other punitive measures, suspended the foreign exchange dealership licence of twenty five banks for one year in 2002. Bearing in mind the lag effect in policy transmission, it therefore became imperative for a follow-up on the earlier study in order to evaluate the full effects of the sanctions. The need to fill this knowledge gap is the basis for this study.

Rozlyn Coleman, " Confronting budget deficits" IMF Economic Issues No. 3, 2000: a review.
(Central Bank of Nigeria, Research Department, 2003-06) Oputa, Newman C.
The document is based on the fiscal operations of major industrial countries and presents a major concern that it is not the size of the budget as a ratio of the gross domestic product (GDP) that matters, but the persistence of budgetary shortfalls during long periods of peace, when governments traditionally offset their debts and save for the future.
